L.C. Sheriff’s Department Pipe and Drum Unit, Senator Bayh and Sheriff Dominguez at National Law Enforcement Event in Washington, DC

Crown Point, IN – May 15, 2009 — The Lake County Sheriff’s Department Pipe and Drum Unit will be the focal attraction at the National Law Enforcement Police Memorial in Washington, DC, May 13 – 15, 2009. The National Conference of Law Enforcement Emerald Societies, Inc. (NCLEES) has selected the Sheriff’s Pipe and Drums Unit, the Sheriff to give the Keynote Address, the Senator is the guest speaker, and the Chief of Police will lay the Wreath. The special invitation to Senator Bayh and Sheriff Dominguez is the result of the Pipe and Drum Unit’s recommendation.

The Pipes and Drums Unit of the Lake County (IN) Sheriff’s Department was selected as the Host Band for all National Police Memorial Week ceremonies being held in the national’s capitol. U.S. Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN) is the Guest Speaker and the Keynote Speaker is Lake County (IN) Sheriff Rogelio “Roy” Dominguez in today’s events. One of the wreath presenters is Lake County (IN) Sheriff’s Department Chief of Police, Marco Kuyachich.

“We are humbled that our department’s Pipe and Drum Unit was chosen as the Host Band by the National Conference of Law Enforcement Emerald Societies to represent our Nation, our State and the Police profession in paying tribute to our fallen heroes who have bravely given their lives in the service to their communities,” said Sheriff Dominguez.
