Illinois State Police investigate Eisenhower car versus CTA train crash.

Chicago, IL(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–An automobile accident consisting of multiple vehicles, including a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train, injured at least nine people early Thursday morning on Chicago’s West Side. The Pioneer Local reports the car wreck took place at approximately 4:05 a.m., on Thursday, in a construction zone. DuPage County police authorities suggest wet streets and speed were factors in the motor vehicle collision (MVC). Illinois State Police I-290 accident investigators say a 2007 Ford Taurus, driven by an unidentified woman, was rear-ended by a 2008 white Dodge Charger.

The Dodge was driven by a Melrose Park man, 31 year-old, Jose Rivera. The Ford rammed into a guardrail, while the Dodge flew over the Eisenhower Expressway embankment. Rivera’s vehicle then fell onto the train tracks and was struck by a southbound Blue Line train. The train was transporting approximately 30 passengers at the time of the CTA train crash. A fourth vehicle, driven by 60 year-old Edmundo Mendoza of Cicero, also incurred damages as a result of the multiple-car versus Blue Line train crash after he slammed into a concrete median in the highway construction zone.

Cook County area emergency medical services (EMS) personnel transported nine people, from all vehicles, to the following area hospitals: West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Mount Sinai Hospital, and Loretto Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Twenty-four people refused transport by EMS to local hospitals for treatment by doctors and nurses. Illinois State Police Troopers and Chicago Police officers issued some citations and continue to investigate the automobile accident which managed to crash into the Blue Line train and disrupt Thursday’s early morning commuters.
