Dallas Texas construction accident attorney-Amy K-alerts West Campus condo construction accident leaves 3 employees dead and 1 injured.

Dallas, TX (JusticeNewsFlash.com)—A West Campus condo worksite, an area near the University of Texas-Austin college campus, turns fatal when four construction workers fall more than 100 feet resulting in three of their deaths. The three Austin area worksite laborers plus the one injured employee were working on top of a scaffold platform when it collapsed for unknown reasons, as reported by the Austin-Statesman.

The four unidentified construction workers plummeted 11 to 13 stories around 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday. The luxury high-rise condominium, under construction near the University of Texas, on 21st and Rio Grande, in West Campus is under investigation by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) http://www.ohsa.gov. Federal and state regulators are investigating the cause of this tragic and fatal workplace accident. Two men, in their late 20s were pronounced dead shortly after the accident when they plummeted more than 100 feet to the ground. The third man, who is in his 40s, fell a few stories and landed on top of the roof of a seven-story parking garage, and was pronounced dead soon after. All three men were transported by Travis County area emergency medical services personnel (EMS) to the University Medical Center, Brackenridge for treatment of their fatal injuries. The fourth man did not fall from the collapsed scaffolding, but received injuries from the work place accident. The surviving injured worker was not sent to an Austin area hospital for treatment of his injuries. Texas accident investigators are still trying to determine if construction site education and training played a factor.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a division of the U.S. Department of Labor (BLS) http://www.bls.gov/, a total of 527 fatal work injuries was recorded in Texas during 2007. Workers falling from a higher level to a lower level represented 14 percent of all workplace fatalities in Texas; this event accounted for 13 percent of the national total. The 2007 total of 733 fatal falls to a lower level in Texas was the third highest in the United States. If you or a loved one have been injured or killed in a construction site accident, or while working for a building company, you or your family may be entitled to compensation for your injuries.
