Minnesota’s Polaris Industries recalls defective snowmobiles.

Minneapolis, MN(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–Polaris Industries Inc., has cooperated with a voluntary recall of approximately 800 snowmobiles. Federal regulators with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) www.cpsc.gov announced the product safety recall on July 1, 2009 after discovering the 2009 Polaris Assault model Snowmobiles pose an injury risk. The bolts on the mobile’s rear suspension can fracture, putting the rider at risk for injury. The rail tip of the snowmobile can dislodge, conflicting with the recalled defective product’s track, causing a lock up. This may cause the operator of the snowmobile to lose control of the machine. Polaris Industries is a manufacturer of snowmobiles and ATVs. Polaris’s subsidiary, Victory Motorcycles, manufactures motorcycles. The company is located in Medina, Minnesota.

The red and black 2009 Polaris 800 Assault RMK 146 model numbers under recall are S09PL8EE and S09PL8ES. The model number is found below the seat, on the right side of the tunnel. The machine’s hood says “Assault 800” on it. “Polaris” is printed on the recalled snowmobile’s seat. The snowmobile was made in the U.S. and retailed for approximately $10,600. They were available for sale from September 2008 to June 2009 at Polaris dealers across the U.S. Eight incident reports of the bolts breaking have been filed. Two of the eight incidents report the rider being ejected from the snowmobile. Fortunately, no injuries related to the machine have been reported. The Hennepin County firm urges consumers to stop riding the recalled snowmobiles. A free repair is available by contacting any Polaris dealer. Polaris can be reached by phone at 888-704-5290 or on the internet at www.polarisindustries.com.
