Florida criminal law attorney alert-Indiana man tried to fake his own death in a plane crash, after being accused of securities fraud gets 4 years in prison.

Pensacola, FL—The Indiana man, who tried to fake his own death in a Florida Panhandle plane crash, was sentenced to more than four years in a federal prison. Marcus Schrenker, 38, of McCordsville, was sentenced on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, after he pleaded guilty in June, to destruction of an aircraft and causing the Coast Guard to respond when no help was needed, as reported by CNN.

As JusticeNewsFlash.com reported, the Indiana financial adviser intentionally crashed his plane on January 11, 2009, in Santa Rosa County. Schrenker, attempted to fake his own death after multiple lawsuits were filed in several states for securities fraud. Schrenker was charged by securities fraud lawyers, with two felony counts, which claimed he worked as an investment adviser without being registered, operated fraudulent business practices, and manipulated consumers into investing with him. Schrenker was found on January 13, 2009, in a campground outside of Tallahassee, Florida after abandoning his Piper PA46 plane in mid-flight over Alabama and parachuted to safety. Police investigators say he used a motorcycle he had hidden to continue his escape.

Marcus Schrenker was sentenced to 51 months in a federal prison, in addition to paying the Coast Guard $34,000 in restitution, and pay the lien-holder of the plane, Harley-Davidson Credit Corporation, more than $871,000.
