Michigan construction accident lawyer alerts- A Livingston County construction accident killed a tractor-trailer driver after a concrete slab crushed him.

Detroit, MI—A construction accident killed an Ohio man, when a 3500-pound slab of concrete crushed him after falling off his semi-truck. The fatal construction accident happened on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 7:53 a.m., at a construction site on M-59 in Livingston County, as reported by Detroit Free Press.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff Department, Richard Browand, 69, of Ohio, was unloading the 3500-pound panels of concrete off of his semi-truck truck, when a slab fell off the big rig and crushed the truck driver. Browand had reportedly been hauling the concrete slabs for a construction job located between Grand River and Byron Road in the Howell Township. The concrete slabs are apparently being used to build a sound barrier wall along the eastbound side of M-59. Browand was transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to St. Joseph Livingston Hospital for treatment of his serious injuries. The Livingston County Medical Examiner declared Browand dead at 8:30 a.m. Mack Transport Inc. of Valley City, Ohio reportedly employed the deceased truck driver at the time of the accident. The fatal construction accident is currently under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov/.
