FDA recalls Kroger sandwich bread

Ohio based Kroger recalls white bread after discovering an undeclared ingredient.

Ohio product liability attorney news-Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issues white bread recall for undeclared milk product.

Cincinnati, Ohio–The Kroger Co. has participated in a voluntary recall of its Super Kids Enriched White Sandwich Bread. Kroger is a supermarket chain headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. The recall was issued after discovering the product may contain milk, an ingredient not listed on the packaging label. For those allergic to milk, consumption of the recalled sandwich bread may cause serious or fatal reactions. Otherwise, the product is safe for people not allergic to milk. Safety regulators with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) www.fda.gov announced the recall on August 21, 2009.

The following item is under federal recall:

– 20 oz. package of Kroger Super Kids Enriched White Sandwich Bread bearing a 1111000831 UPC code with various expiration dates

The recalled bread items were sold in a number of Kroger, Jay C Food, and Food 4 Less stores. Kroger stores in 13 states are a part of the recall. The 13 states are West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ohio, North Carolina, Missouri, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Georgia, and Alabama. Food 4 Less stores located in Illinois and Indiana and Jay C Food locations in Indiana are also a part of the recall. Kroger stores in the following states are not subject to the recall: Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

The Hamilton County firm is using its Customer Recall Notification system to warn possible customers of the Class 1 recall. A Class 1 recall means the product may cause serious health risks. Consumers injured by the recalled product may be entitled to compensation for damages. Questions may be directed to Kroger by phone at 800-632-6900 or online at www.kroger.com/recalls.
