Occupational Health and Safety Administration alerts Kentucky personal injury attorneys- An explosion at Special Metals Corporation injured seven workers.

Ashland, KY—Seven employees working at the Special Metals Corporation plant were injured after three separate explosions at the plant. The workplace accident happened on Monday, September 28, 2009 around 3:00 p.m., Special Metals Corporation plant near Burnaugh, as reported by the Ironton Tribune.

Accident reports indicated workers at the plant heard three separate blasts occur inside the plant. Officials stated water falling on molten metal might have caused the explosion. Seven employees at the plant were injured as a result of the explosion, which included cuts, scrapes, burns and smoke inhalation among the employees. Five of the seven injured workers were transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to King’s Daughters Medical Center for treatment of their burns and respiratory problems. Ten other affected workers were evaluated at the scene of the explosion by EMS teams, mainly for eye irritation caused by debris from the explosion. Officials with the Federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov/ are expected to conduct a full investigation into the workplace accident.
