Legal news for California 18-wheeler accident attorneys. A multiple vehicle pile up killed three people on Interstate 5.

California semi-truck accident attorneys alert- A crash involving four semi-trucks on Interstate 5 is believed to caused by dust.

Bakersfield, CA—A fiery 11-vehicle crash along the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 ended the lives of three people. The deadly crash happened on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 around 5:18 p.m. near Bakersfield, as reported by the San Jose Mercury News.

Kern County fire officials reported four semi-trucks and seven vehicles collided, which caused six of the vehicles to ignite into an intense blaze. Officials reported the weather conditions at the time of the crash were not favorable. Reportedly, blowing dust in the area reduced visibility to less than a mile, and wind gusts in the area reportedly reached to 40 mph, and 75 mph in other areas. The dust storm affected the rescue efforts, and traffic in both directions on the Interstate was stopped.

Rescue teams used hydraulic rescue equipment to free a small child, who was restrained in a child safety seat, from a severely damaged vehicle. The trapped child was transported by emergency medical services (EMS) teams to a local hospital for treatment. Five additional victims were also transported by EMS crews to area hospital for treatment of their injuries sustained in the wreck. Three other people tragically lost their lives in the multiple vehicle pile-up. Police officials are reportedly conducting a full investigation into the fatal crash.
