San Jose, CA—A single vehicle crash left a teenager dead and two other teens seriously injured. Police officials reported excessive speeds contributed to the fatal Thursday, October 29, 2009 night crash, as reported by the San Jose Mercury News.
Police officials reported that a one-vehicle crash on eastbound Santa Teresa Boulevard near Allen Avenue left backseat passenger, 17-year-old Ronald MacDonald dead. The unidentified driver of a Honda Civic was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when the vehicle slammed into a concrete divider and a tree, and overturned around 10:30 p.m. MacDonald was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical crews. The driver and a female passenger, ages 18 and 19, were injured in the wreck. Both were transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) teams to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries by doctors and nurses. The driver is reportedly listed in critical condition. The identities of the driver and the female passenger have not been released by police officers. Police investigators are conducting a full investigation into the crash; they do not currently know if drugs or alcohol were a factor. Investigators do not believe they were drag racing when the crash occurred.
