/ EIN Presswire / Brilliance Preschool and Academy has recently announced a can food drive to take place between November 12th and end on November 19th at their annual Brilliance Academy Youth Concert.
Partnering with the North Texas Food Bank, Brilliance Preschool & Academy hopes to raise over 1000 pounds of food to help feed hungry North Texans during the holiday season. Statistics have shown that 1 in 5 children in Texas are on the brink of hunger. The event will kick off on the 12th with each child bringing in canned goods for their classroom or day care. Brilliance will conclude the contest on the 19th at their Brilliance Academy Youth Concert, an event where the kids perform for the parents as a part of the Thanksgiving holiday. “Our students and teachers are excited about helping out in their community, everyone in the school and day care cares about their community.” Said Kelly Mayberry Director at Brilliance Academy. The class or day care unit with the largest donation will get a pizza party hosted by the school.
Parents are required to bring in two canned goods as admission to the concert and place them in with their child’s classroom food bank. Food and beverages will be sold at the event and parents are encouraged to bring relatives to contribute to the overall food drive goals. The proceeds from concession sales will go towards building a new playground for the students at Brilliance Academy. Everyone is encouraged to bring as much as they can.
About Brilliance Preschool and Academy
Brilliance Preschool and Academy was established in January of 1996 to fill a need for a high quality preschool and day care education. In a period of six years, Brilliance has added Kindergarten, and 1st – 4th grades. This growth is directly attributed to the positive development that parents have witnessed during their children’s preschool attendance at Brilliance. Brilliance Academy’s approach to education is a combination of Communication, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Character and Confidence. In developing its methodology, Brilliance curriculum has taken into account the importance of a child’s early formative years, the cognitive phases of a child’s development, the benefits of learning through concrete experiences, and the evaluation of the eight intelligences as presented by educator Howard Gardner.
