ANNUAL SINGING CONTEST IS BACK FOR THIRD YEAR!
WBZB Entertainment has begun accepting online registrations for Inland ICON 2010 which kicks off January 16th in Chino Hills.

Inland ICON (formerly “Inland Idol”) is an annual solo vocal competition open to Southern CA youth ages 7-18 and produced by WBZB Entertainment.

The contest ultimately gives 30 finalists a professional showcase opportunity with celebrity judges and a chance at a great prize package.

This competition and concert event is back for its third straight year in the Inland Empire. The entire contest is comprised of 8 events over a 4 to 5-month period. “Historically we have auditioned between 500 – 800 young singers from all over Southern CA before arriving at the 200-225 semifinalists who then compete for the 30 Finalists spots,” explained Bruce Sampson, president of WBZB Entertainment. “Based upon the growth of this event over the past two years, we expect to audition well over one thousand talented young performers for Inland ICON 2010.”

“The two things we are most proud of are: creating an exciting and supportive atmosphere for the competition and giving kids a fantastic and professional platform to showcase their talent,” said Dan Calvillo, technical director for WBZB. All the contestants get positive and constructive feedback from the qualifying judges and the 30 finalists get direct feedback from the panel of celebrity judges and industry veterans (which have included Grammy, Emmy and Tony award nominees.)

The competition is the largest and most successful regional singing contest of its kind in Southern CA. “In only our third year, we’ve already had some success stories. Contestants have used the experience and knowledge gained from our event to go on to bigger things including:
• Featured singers on International tours
• Signed with agents
• Signed record, development or production deals as part of a group or as soloists
• One of the Inland Idol finalists made it to the top 30 of last season’s American Idol.

In the final concert event, 3 winners will be chosen by combining the votes from the theater audience in attendance that evening and the celebrity judges. The judges each get 10% of the vote and the audience gets the lion share with 60-70%.

The 3 winners will each get identical prize packages that include a professional photography package, professional vocal coaching, One original song produced, 2 songs recorded in professional recording studio and one music video produced for their original song.
