Ohio State Highway Patrol investigates car crash, two taken to hospital.

Marne, OH—A two-vehicle crash on Ohio State Route 16 left two drivers injured on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, according to information provided by the Coshocton Tribune. The motor vehicle collision (MVC) reportedly occurred around 9:01 a.m.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) allegedly reported that an eastbound Ford Focus failed to stop at a red light while traveling on Ohio 16 when the incident occurred. A southbound Oldsmobile Bravada was reported traveling on Marne Road and was subsequently struck by the Ford after it ran the red light.

Hanover Township and Newark Fire Department firefighters arrived on the scene with special equipment used to extricate the Ford driver, 39-year-old Melissa Green from her damaged vehicle. The Oldsmobile driver, 54-year-old Rita McCoy was allegedly removed from her car without hassle. Both were transported to Licking Memorial Hospital by responding medical professionals. Green was allegedly listed in good condition and McCoy was released from the medical center after being treated for undisclosed injuries she may have acquired in the motor vehicle accident. There were no passengers in either vehicle involved in the collision.

Green was allegedly cited for failing to stop at a red light. The eastbound traffic lanes on Ohio 16 were reportedly closed for less than an hour.
