San Diego, CA (WiredPRNews.com) — Bankruptcy Attorney D.J. Rausa has signed up to cycle 80 miles this weekend to benefit the victims of the earthquake that destroyed the capitol city of Haiti.
“I’m an avid cyclist anyway,” Mr. Rausa said, “and when I saw a chance to combine my love of cycling with a great cause, I pledged my support.”
The “80 for Haiti” bike ride is an 80-mile ride organized by AdventureCORPS on Old Highway 80 in San Diego. The participants’ entry fees of $80 will go to MercyCorps, a relief organization that is helping coordinate relief efforts in Haiti. The ride was capped at 157 participants, and Mr. Rausa said he is fortunate to be able to lend his support.
“The San Diego cycling community always goes out of its way to support good causes,” Mr. Rausa said.
Mr. Rausa also donates his time as a cycling coach for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program. In 2009, Mr. Rausa coached members of Team in Training’s ACE Team, a group of endurance athletes who specialize in climbing.
