According to the Tibetan government-in-exile website, the Dalai Lama will use Twitter to keep in touch with his followers. Twenty-four hours and seven tweets into his online medium, the Dalai Lama already has more than 53,000 followers.
It is unknown how many of those followers are ardent Buddhists.
