February 23, 2010 /EIN PRESSWIRE/ Two of Seattle’s biggest companies have signed a patent agreement that will let them share their intellectual property portfolios with each other.
The terms of the agreement between Microsoft and Amazon weren’t made public, but Microsoft said that the agreement covers Kindle and Amazon’s use of Linux-based servers. Amazon also will pay Microsoft an undisclosed amount of money.
Analysts say that the pact most likely came into being because Amazon’s Kindle may share some technologies that hit a little too close to home for Microsoft — with the agreement being a better alternative to patent-infringement litigation.
