The execution of a man who alleges he could be cleared of a crime through DNA testing has been blocked by the Supreme Court.
Washington (WiredPRNews.com) – The execution of Texas man who states DNA could help prove his innocence in a triple homicide case has been blocked by the Supreme Court. As reported by The 33 News, Hank Skinner was granted a stay Wednesday by the High Court.
As noted in the report, Skinner is on death row for the murders of his girlfriend and her two sons 17 years ago. His lawyer, Rob Owen, is quoted in the report as stating of the Court’s decision, “As a result of this action, the Court will have more time to determine whether to hear his appeal… This action suggests that the Court believes there are important issues that require closer examination. We remain hopeful that the Court will agree to hear Mr. Skinner’s case and ultimately allow him the chance to prove his innocence through DNA testing.”
