May 11, 2010 – The successor to Bridgestone as tire supplier to the F1 circuit may be chosen by this weekend.
Pirelli, Michelin, Kumho and Cooper/Avon are reportedly in the running to be suppliers, but Mercedes GP chief executive Nick Fry told reporters after the Spanish Grand Prix that discussions were also taking place to try to keep Bridgestone from leaving F1.
Michelin has said it will only return to the F1 circuit if there is competition among tire suppliers.
