May 19, 2010 /EIN Presswire/ — Iraq is planning to double the capacity of the Baghdad airport and is considering increasing capacity at Basra airport as well. A new international airport near Mosul may also be in the works.

These announcements come from the head of Iraq’s civil aviation authority. After years of war and civil unrest, Iraq hopes to finance airport expansion with money expected to flow from its oil fields and from foreign investment.
