Palestinian Authority Cabinet Meeting, 5 July 2010
Palestinian Cabinet Meeting welcomes the positive outcome of the Donors’ Meeting in Paris and renews its call for lifting the siege on Gaza Strip
The Cabinet demands the enforcement of The Hague Court Ruling on the illegality of the Wall and condemns Israeli settlement policies in the West Bank, mainly in East Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Cabinet, in its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, welcomed the outcomes of the Donors’ meeting held in Paris last Thursday, in which the Prime Minister took part. The Paris meeting stressed the need to continue financial support to the Palestinian National Authority and praised the reforms accomplished by the government and reiterated its support to the government plan for resuming the building of the state-institution and ending the occupation. The Cabinet called on Israel to lift the siege on Gaza as to enable the government implement its reconstruction projects and lift the suffering of the people in Gaza and end the tragedy of continued siege. It welcomed the Italian Governmental visit, coordinated with the Palestinian Authority, to dispatch a delegation of EU Foreign Ministers to visit the Gaza Strip expressing hope that this visit would enhance international efforts aimed at ending the siege.
The 6th Anniversary of The Hague International Court of Justice recommendation
On the 6th Anniversary of the Hague International Court of Justice(ICJ) recommendation on the Wall, the Cabinet demanded for the enforcement of this recommendation, which coincide on July 7th and was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2\8\2004, which affirmed the illegality of the wall and settlement activities in all Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, including East Jerusalem.
The Cabinet confirmed that despite international positions clearly opposing Israeli settlement policies, Israel continues to confiscate land, build settlements and demolish houses in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and had recently ratified its regional committee planning department in Jerusalem to build 1400 hotel rooms in Jerusalem and demolish agricultural and farm compartments in addition to land leveling in Eissawiya village, to construct Jewish parks, and demolition orders for houses in Beit Safafa and Wadi Joz as well as Burj Village south of Hebron under the pretence of illegal construction in the northern valley; in addition to eviction orders of Bedouins in the northern valley despite their inhabitation of that area for dozens of years; a matter that requires international tangible measures capable of committing Israel to stop the serious violations practiced against our people.
Palestinian Police Day
On the occasion of the Palestinian police day which comes at the beginning of this month, the Cabinet affirmed that the efforts of the Palestinian police forces and other security services deserve all the appreciation. The Cabinet complimented the loyalty of the security and police services employees and the cooperation of the citizens, which enabled more achievement and further steps in rehabilitating and reconstructing the security institutions, strengthening their capacities and reinforce the security values that is based on serving and protecting the national project and provide security and safety for the citizens.
Needy Families and Social Security
The Cabinet decided to establish an Economic Empowerment Fund for Needy Families in Palestine, to contribute to preserve the unity and coherence of the Palestinian families and improve the living conditions of needy families and enable self sufficiency as well as contribute to economic development, reducing the level of unemployment and provide economic security for needy families.
