Polk County is hosting ‘Savor the Flavor of Polk’ restaurant month starting Oct. 15. As part of the event, local restaurants will offer special menus, giving those on a Central Florida vacation the chance to try local food at value prices.
AUBURNDALE, FL — New York has one. Boston has one. Virtually all the big cities do and now Polk County is joining the ranks of destinations that host a ‘restaurant week,’ but Polk County’s can be enjoyed for an entire month. Designed to showcase culinary attractions of a destination, ‘Restaurant Week’ offers fixed-price, three course meals with the intention of highlighting the unique flavors of a city or locale.
Along with offering popular Central Florida attractions, Polk County also boasts unique dining and culinary locations which will be highlighted October 15 through November 15 as part of the inaugural ‘Savor the Flavor of Polk County’ Restaurant Month. The Central Florida Visitors and Convention Bureau (http://www.VisitCentralFlorida.org) has recruited 12 area restaurants to participate in the inaugural culinary celebration. Each restaurant has created special ‘Savor the Flavor of Polk’ menus — a $10 two-course lunch menu and a $25 three-course dinner menu. Patrons should simply ask for the ‘Savor the Flavor of Polk’ menu to enjoy a delectable meal at a value price and no coupon or flyer is required.
“Savor the Flavor of Polk provides guests enjoying a Central Florida vacation the opportunity to experience the creative cuisine our talented chefs prepare. We are pleased that our great restaurants have chosen to participate in this inaugural event,” said Mark Jackson, Director of Tourism and Sports Marketing.
Participating restaurants in both lunch and dinner include Sundown Southern Eatery in Winter Haven; Chalet Suzanne Country Inn and Restaurant and Festival Steak and Seafood in Lake Wales; Harry’s Old Place in Winter Haven; and Mario’s Italian Restaurant in Lakeland. Additional restaurants are also participating in lunch and dinner only menus. For more information and a complete list of restaurants, please visit http://www.VisitCentralFlorida.org.
